Outdoor cats unfortunately, but that’s how we met them as they would come to our yard and back deck to play. My wife started feeding them until we learned they had a home, then stopped that, but they were very friendly and playful and showed up sometimes daily for a petting and to play with the toys our cats no longer use. We called them the “banditos”. This week and last, no sign of them. Thinking maybe it’s cold and the owners are keeping them inside, but hadn’t seen the son of the family walking the dog either so today I ran into a family member and asked about the 2 kittens. Seemed that Nepo turned up dead the other day in the driveway, likely hit by a car.

My wife and I are crushed. These were 2 little kittens so full of life and friendly to us. Almost like they knew we were nice cat people and we were worth the visit. They were aware we had indoor cats as they would see each other when my 3 were on the catio/front porch. Still they came around and we took great joy in their presence. We were aware of the danger for outdoor cats and mentioned this to the son, but were aware they were unlikely to change and make them indoor cats. Sad as it turned out. So a heartfelt R.I.P. to little Nepo.
