I doubt the hub drive is going to be better, the Brose S motor is an excellent motor and maybe she isn't using it right or maybe there is an issue with the bike that is causing problems (beyond just some added weight). I would not recommend adding a hub drive to the bike to replace a good quality motor. I would swap to a different belt sprocket combo (maybe not going quite as low as mentioned in your other thread). 90nm is a good amount of torque and Bafang gets up only 5nm higher at their max but because hub drives are less efficient I don't think it would help much..
Thanks. She got it back when she lived in a flat area, so that bike made perfect sense. But now that she lives in a much hillier area… not so much. But then, there aren't that many options when you have three kids to haul, and you can't afford a pricey R&M.
Swapping the 46T front sprocket for a 39T will be done shortly — not sure she'll agree spending more money to also get a 42T and the 113T belt that goes with it just to experiment. It can only help, but if it's still not enough… and since the frame doesn't look like it could take a BBS02/BBSHD… it could be the end of it with that bike.
