Spoke thread lube is almost as contentious as chain lube. There are reasons to prefer each of various kinds of oil, grease, and thread locker. To be honest, I just use whatever is close at hand which is bike oil or grease. I doubt linseed oil in the quantity you'll use creates a hazard. And your spoke nipples won't be exposed to much heat, either.
