I forsee a market for microprocessor-controlled chains that have servo feedback to sense impending derailment and adjust itself. Also, "smart pins" that remain intact if installed properly, or turn to dust if not, upon first tension.

Our fates are in the hands of engineers, or in the hands of those who know how to install chains that have been around for what, a century?

If I install my own automobile wheels and one flies off, I don't holla "Damn You Lug Nut Stretch!!"

Is this thread over yet, or are we still being constructive?
