fwiw, my head coverings range from vey thin to thicker & then proceed to balaclavas, thin to thicker. they are all as changeable as the weather. it's not uncommon for me to start with one & switch to another at my 1/2 way mark. I also have a cycling headband for the tops of my ears, but that gets little use. it's useful specific temperature range is so narrow

this very thin beanie is super useful to get things started & they come in different colors. easy to twist squeeze out any sweat & keep using, or just carry a 2nd one. after the ride, easy to rinse wash by hand in a sink then hang dry until tomorrow
