Once, years ago, my bike was securley locked up at work and someone stole my seat post and saddle. I had to ride home (30 km) standing up all the way. The stolen items had very little real value. I replaced the seat post with a much better one and installed a saddle from my stockpile. I also installed an anti theft device that makes it pretty much impossible to remove the seat post unless you know how it works.
