You've got me thinking that if the mounting for the clamp assembly could be left loose to pivot, you could rotate the vertical piece around so you could clamp the seatpost or top tube with the bike sitting on the ground, then rotate the assembly, lifting the bike to work height, then tighten the Park clamp and the upper pivot. It might make it easier to get heavy bikes up into position.
