(above) Date: Yep, as stale as my Launch D8. Neither were selling, and I think only due to price, both are good bikes.
Paint on rack: Weird, if I didn't know better, it would be like painted before bending to shape, but of course that is not the case. Maybe residue there of lube or such from the bending operation? Ah, maybe if that is universal Dahon rack, and needed to be spread apart a bit to fit on the UNIO seatstays, it could have put that area in tension and fractured the brittle paint; I'd bet money that is the case, because notice paint is not off all the way around, just on where it would tension if spreading the mount points, and it's at the area of highest bending moment and tension due to that, near the welds. Yep. If no recompense from Dahon or even if yes, black nail polish, and you may even be able to find that in a matte black and not gloss. My local drugstore has generic brand polish cheap, a tiny fraction of what auto touch-up paint goes for these days at the auto parts store.
Good video, very complete, I'm impressed that is published to consumers. I don't like that the crank appears to attach to the BB spindle via a special spline, and not simple standard square tapers, the latter would allow easy and cheap replacement. If I was you, I'd enclose the handlebar controller in a clear plastic bag to protect from rain. It may be sealed, but I wouldn't count on it.
Battery: One would think that for low cost, Dahon designed the pack to be assembled from widely available standard round cells, strung together in a spring-pack like a maglite flashlight, or wired together, so should be replaceable. If not, you can always get a box-form-factor battery and mount it elsewhere.
Overall: Heshootshescores!
Pics: The Stealth Bike.
As of now, it seems the sale is still on, and I see 12 in stock.
Gosh I'd recommend it to some elder folks I know who don't have cars and need urban transport (one just bought a $300 e-scooter), but they live up stairs with no elevator, there's no way they could carry a Unio, folded or unfolded. (The scooter is easily carried on stairs, but it has limited range and would be more tiring on long trips than sitting on an e-bike.)
