One must wonder the same question here. Why would anybody want to counterfeit a Paul? Overweight overpriced obsolete parts based on last century tech. Take the Paul Klamper as an example, it's double the weight of the comparable SRAM brake, at three times the cost. SRAM's latest hydraulic brakes are widely acknowledged to have the best braking feel on the market. Why would anyone want to install Paul's inferior performing overpriced brick on their bike, let alone bother to make a fake one?
How to tell me you've never ridden a disc brake bike at 0°F without staying you've never ridden a disc brake bike at 0°F.

Paul Klamper are quite popular here on cold weather bikes. Riding with the brake pads dragging the entire time really ruins a ride. I'll take to higher effort and poor feel of the mechanicals to have brakes that work and actually release to mineral oil brakes that barely work and don't release. DOT fluid discs are probably the best in cold weather but mechanicals work damn well and take less maintenance.
