Bikes: '38 Schwinn New World, '72 Peugeot PX-10, 78 Raleigh Comp GS, ’80 Peugeot TH-8 tandem

I am envious- I LOVE that era of Pug colors/graphics & have had my eye out for a tall Competition or Super Comp for a while now. As others have said, vintage French bikes have their own peculiar challenges, but nothing insurmountable and the answers to nearly the questions you're likely to have can be found right here in these forums. A digital caliper can be handy to have to check dimensions (never assume anything is 'standard' on a vintage French bike!). You can also use it to determine how much fatter you can go tire-wise. As jdawginsc said above, the crank likely needs a Stronglight-specific puller, and the pedals are probably french-threaded (it's not a huge job to re-tap French crank arms to take English-standard pedals, but needs to be done with some care). I would add new Kool-Stop brake pads to your shopping list... I would also ditch the reflectors- the bike wouldn't have come with them in France! Modern USB-charge 'blinkies' are more effective.

Add a pick to the show your french bikes thread!
