Keep in mind that many automotive finish treatments are intended to be used with buffers, which you cannot use on a bicycle frame, due to the tight curve presented by the small-diameter tubing. I've found that the tins of polishing and rubbing compounds work well for hand rubbing on cured finishes, though the latter doesn't seem to have quite the 'bite' that it did a few decades ago.
