I had one of those Columbia three speeds for years, it did just fine, nothing special, just two wheels. They're as good as their components for each year and lighter than a Raleigh Sports.
lately though, around me, there's more rough English bikes than old Schwinns or Columbias.
Mine was bright yellow, and I believe a 1968 model. I bought it new for something like $40 and that included a pair of rear saddle baskets and a huge newsboy basket up front. I delivered newpapers on it for 6 years as a kid, overloaded it every day of its life and only stopped riding it when I noticed the rear drop out cracking. I worked the old one out of the frame tubes, then cut a new drop out from some cold rolled steel, then heat treated it and brazed it back in. That led to me repainting the bike, this time in heavy metallic black which I was using on a Meyer's Dune buggy at the time. The only problem is it was too nice to abuse after that and it just sat. I sold it about 15 years ago to a buddy looking for a bike for his daughter at college. I would have kept it but at the time the sheds were full of bikes, which hasn't changed much even now.
