Having even a Dutch bike serviced can also be a drag because they're not used to drum brakes and gear hubs.

Incidently, it turns out FSA offers a BCD 104/64 spider for different mid-drive motors. That would be simpler than replacing the rear wheel with the 3*8 Sturmey-Archer hub. Here's the one for Brose with a 50.3mm chain line — so any front derailleur should work. Google returned not a single hit but I found a couple of people using that kind of solution with a Bafang:

I wasn't there at those shops but knowing bikes like that and having had them in the shop and had to work on them I can say my current shop and some of my past shops would not have taken that thing in for the reasons listed above. That's all she needed is not an accurate representation of anything as it is a massive 3 wheeled super heavy cargo trike that is hard to work on. Add to that the Enviolo system which not every shop has worked on or is confident in and wouldn't want to screw up and risk the expensive repair or replacement. Also now add in that it is an e-bike which that shop didn't sell and many shops only work on what they sell for various reasons, then on top of that a belt drive which while great is not as common at most shops. Then on top of that you are trying to change to a massively different ratio.

I don't think anything had to do with "we just work on sports bikes" maybe that might have had a tiny iota of truth but the above is way more likely as someone who has worked in a bunch of shops and visited a ton more and now owns one and has been in a shop specifically that worked on and built quite a few 3 wheeled bikes similar to the one listed here. I don't know everything and nobody can but I can be reasonably sure what happened at these shops. I know you want things to be some sort of snobbery or ulterior motives but I would bet money it was more for the reasons I laid out. It is not a knock against anyone it is just reality of those trikes. It is very similar to the electric motorcycles and mopeds that don't have a proper seat post and cannot be clamped, they are harder to work on unless you have a proper motorcycle lift which most shops don't have the need, want or money for.

Come back down to reality and maybe have your friend reach out it sounds like she could really use some help.
