I'm planning to go back to melted (plain 'ol candle) wax like I did back in my road bike days, back then it was for cleanliness. I went to oil thinking it lubed better, and the rain here. Little did I suspect that wax is superior for chain life, but that's what test results show. But, it requires pulling off the chain about once a month if riding long daily, but that won't be half as bad with a clean chain. Even with the Park cleaner, that doesn't clean the chainrings or cogs, and most especially the rear derailleur pulleys, which are pretty gunked now from a couple years since a major cleaning. Everything will stay darned clean with wax. Occasional rain, we'll see, I never rode my road racer in the rain. My townie, sometimes I get caught in the rain in the PNW winter.
