I think it is the smart way to go because then you have control over the shipment. The one I shipped through the shop had a small damage issue and they had to make the insurance claim. Insurance is cheap and claims are pretty easy.
But, I would like to know the user/customer experience, currently, and any other alternative recommendations they may have at the moment. - I did a bunch of research & read a bunch of threads here and It seems like bikeflights has mostly cornered the market right now. There website and customer service seem to be pretty good/user friendly. I have not tried any other way, but did find UPS (which bikeflights uses) would be way more money, as bikeflights has negotiated a discounted rate.
