There's market value for me as a seller and as a buyer. I'd be lucky to get $200-$300 if I parted my bike out or sold it as a unit - 1973 Reynolds 531DB frame, Campy (N)R hubs, TA Cyclotouriste triple crank, SR bars, Nitto tall stem, etc. The last time I talked to a store about a new bike was 8 years ago, and I was told I need to spend $2,700 to get a comparable bike. I've spent maybe $500 on non-consumables since then, so maybe I spent more than it's worth, butI think I've done pretty well financially.
