I have contacted Shimano directly, with more pictures and a short video clip of the problem.

I considered the sandpaper or Dremel fix, but, in my hands, it would look like dung, it would possibly void the warranty, and it would cost me more than an hour in labor. I weighed that against $15 for Ultegra pulleys and in intact warranty case, and I went with the pulley upgrade.
