I put every bit of weight in front; the rear bags have only sleeping bag and clothes and maybe bread or some fruit nestled safely. The front bags carry everything else including my 4lb tent. The handling on descents is awesome- I track like a legend and use far less braking. I prefer a simple tucked in setup, nothing on top, no handlebar bag. My bags have room for groceries as I ride exclusively rural routes. I think you would really appreciate the difference with your load in front. Frankly, those enormous top duffles freak me out with their size; they must be useful as many as I see on the road.
