It's a SRAM GripShift MRX Comp, just a low-end gripshift. Both right and left shifters are set up for "standard" Shimano cable pulls, front and rear derailleurs. So the left gripshift had the correct ratio to work on the Microshift FD, just force to twist was killing me. I substituted for FD, a standard Shimano Alivio trigger shifter for flat bar for better leverage, ratio still fine, but still need to push upshift lever with right thumb straight, can't sweep left thumb, will hurt thumb muscles.
I know the Shimano 11 FD will need less force to shift, both softer spring, and longer arm, the question is, what's that arm ratio versus "standard" Shimano road, and is it 2:1, because that should allow me to do a double shift (1-3) at the front gripshift. However it looks like the arm ratio on that FD-5800 may be something around 1.5 to 1.7 pull ratio versus standard ratio of "1". I don't know. I can't check a compatibility chart because I'm doing something not normal, trying to use a double shift (1-3) for a single shift (1-2) on a long-arm FD, for lower shift force.
