i'll wager quite a few people who have responded have gone into debt for an automobile. going into debt for a bicycle is not the end of the world, especially if it is a move that will either increase your quality of life or reduce/eliminate your automobile dependency. sure, you could do that with a lot less bicycle, but if enjoying your bicycle both mechanically and aesthetically will further incline you to make subsequent decisions that will continue to increase the quality of your life, then i don't think it's fair of anyone to call you irresponsible or tell you that "[it] sucks". consider your reasons for wanting it and consider the consequences; make your decision. if you're just looking for someone to say, "it's okay--you're normal," then here it is.
