I don't think he was the odds on favorite to win this race. It's not a GC guy type of race. It's a race for the power houses/sprinters.

Him being up there with two of the most overall powerful riders in the world - that outweigh him by 30-40#'s, with no other GC's guys in sight - on a "flat" race...
