I was thinking Ganna might run up on them and blast through in full TT sprint rather than catch and fiddle for a few hundred meters. I wonder how he would have fared? Will never know.

Extraordinary racing. MVDP: "I died a thousand deaths on Pogacar's wheel."

A few of the rags talked about how Pogacar's toolbox has one tool in it -- keep attacking and blast them off your wheel then stay away. It's all he's ever had to do. Whereas MVDP has a whole kit bag of different ways to win.

Still not sure what happened at the run in to and turn onto the Cipressa, but only Wellens and Narvaez were there for the 9 min softening of the bunch before turning over to Pogacar. Not steep / long enough to drop MVDP which was just AMAZING to watch him hanging on.
