Was hoping to do this work myself. Planning to mount it to a 700c Bontrager SSR wheel (got em free from a friend who was upgrading). Do the spline patterns on wheel hubs vary or are they universal? How can I tell what cassette works with this particular hub? I know I'll need a spacer(s) since I'm adding a 7-speed cassette.
The SSR likely has a body that is compatible with 'Shimano HG' cassettes. See the thin spline & the adjacent thick 'gap' in the below, left diagram.
Hub length also noted, so if the SSR is 8/9/10 length, spacers needed behind the 7 sp cassette, 4+mm to secure with the lockring.
