This is not true. The RD6208 definitely has a cable adjuster barrel. And as far as I know, all the SIS compatible RD's use the same pull ratio, and are compatible with newer 7-10 speed shifters and brifters. Whereas the 74** Dura Ace RD's and shifters are off in their own world and incompatible with others.

As someone who has used a 6208 RD to happily index shift a 10 speed cassette. 105/1050 stuff was a game changer: DA shift quality at a bargain price.
