Saying Hello From Pocono

Hello. Again. My original hello seems to have fallen into the ether. Call me Jay or JJ. I'll say huh to both.

I'm not a bicycle guy. It was undiagnosed Lyme disease that left me with a proprioception disorder. That's that part of the brain that lets you point at your nose with your eyes closed. Well, it does a hell of a lot more. To compensate I needed to look at my limbs to move. Better now, but I spill a lot.

Long story short, on a bicycle my limbs had a solid mount on the handle bars and the pedals which relieved a lot of stress. I didn't have to think to move. A bicycle was freedom from a torturous illness. I used to ride 15 miles every night.

In an attempt to fix this affliction and other issues I underwent cervical surgery. Fixed some, broke others. I lost strength, and righting the bike from a banked turn became difficult. I needed three wheels. Having a history of motorcycles and fast sporty cars a granny trike wasn't going to do it. I wanted a recumbent. Too expensive.

I'm the guy that if I can't buy it I build it. I designed my trike. I found the raised pedals, and gravity made it hard to keep my feet engaged. I'd spend more time looking at my feet than seeing where I was going. This lead me to redesigning the bicycle drive. I got so involved in the drives that I never finished the recumbent (yet). But I came up with several successful alternative drives. One particularly stood out.

I now have a drive component that is patent pending. I call it Crownring. Math suggests it's about 25% more efficient than a conventional drive. You'll hear me mention it quite a bit. I have it on my upright. I'd love to ride with others in my area…or anywhere, travel permitting.

I'm looking for input on Crownring if anyone is interested. There are legal issues that restrict what I can say online, but in person disclosure is acceptable.

That's me and most of my bicycle experience. Hello, and thanks for the warm experiences I've already encountered.

JJ
