Probably best first to check with him, where *exactly* he'll be working; "The greater Vancouver area" such as one of the surrounding suburb cities, can be way different than "Vancouver proper". Driving there, just across the border from the US, you think you're not far off but it's another hour drive on fast roads.

But he's not far from one of the main highways north into Vancouver proper. With a folding bike to get to the bus, should work well, especially in summer dry weather.
