I have an update on the chain. Called the shop where I purchased it and they did source the chain from a US distributor. They offered me to return it, however I wasn't done investigating the problem and politely turned it down. Thinking that the chain doesn't hang on to the wax very long. I have bathed it in wax again and am waiting for a nice day to ride 50 miles to see what happens.
