These Catalyst pedals are great but they also suck on maintenance

I have had these on my commuter and tandem for 6 years. they work great with my big size 13 feet I can wear any shoe and my foot is always flat, and it feels like a stiff shoe.
but it seems the inside design kind of sucks. they have two bearings in the middle but some kind of sleeve bushing on the lnside of the pedal that the acle spins on. they work great and feel good, but I would get sqeaks, and I started finding the grease was gone. At first, I thought it was all the rain, but it happens in summer now or maybe I notice it more now. The grease gets squeezed out is all I can figure out after about 3000 miles, the axle is dry. The grease is still on the bearings and everywhere else. I hae tried grease for marine use and it lasts the same time. Though I can regrease them several times before that sleeve wears out. I have it down I can pop the pedals off take them apart enough to re grease and back on in a few minutes. but I have to do it about 3 times a year it seems.
