yes, mfgs took short cuts. the fork needs to engage with the Campagnolo tool or a secondary equal, Park, Cyclus, ice Toolz...
Sorry about no photos-I had not hit the 10 comment threshold to include them! with this thread I finally have, and some can be found above. There is no overspray and I used a Parktool CRS-1 with an appropriately sized drift, so I did use proper tools to install.
