If you ever do long rides the battery on your phone won't last as long as a bike computer. It's even worse if you try to use the phone for navigation.
I've done plenty of long rides. I turn the screen off on my phone, plus I have a few small rechargeable battery packs I can use to keep the phone charged up. And I usually know where I'm going.
