Thanks for the infos. I currently use a Claris RD-R2000 with a 7s 11-28T cassette. Besides being a bit fussy when downshifting (eg. from gear 5 to 4), it's a bit low to the ground on a 20" wheel — the low roller already got stuck with a branch while riding off-road, hence my looking at that short cage derailleur from Microshift I saw mentioned somewhere.

I'll get an Altus RD-M310 and see how it goes.
