Does Enve still make stuff in the US?
I just bought an Enve "adventure" fork. It was quite pricey, even with 20% off at REI, but I noticed some other websites had it listed for $60 above the list price of the one from REI.
When it arrived, there was a "Made in China" sticker on the box. I guess that explains why (presumably) newer stock has the higher price tag. I was initially under the impression that Enve made their carbon components in Utah. Is it still true of the wheels, or has that all gone overseas as well?
A few years ago they had a video on their website where all of their people are sitting around a table and saying something to the effect that all of their components have always been manufactured in the US, and that would always be the case. A couple of months after I saw their video, they had a recall on their road fork, and it turned out it was made in Vietnam. I concluded that they might be playing it a bit loose with the truth in that video, but my purchase was the first I had heard they were manufacturing stuff in China.
I don't have a huge problem with this, except they do kind of hide it. At one time they justified the much higher prices with domestic manufacturing claims.
