If you want to have the wheel rebuilt with a new rim, I recommend the Sun CR-18. It’s available basic silver aluminum rim, widely available, and comes in the required 27” 36-hole version. I’ve used the CR-18 rim on my Superior and Super Sport (albeit in 700C- I converted both bikes). You will have to find a bike shop that builds old-school wheels… that may be the real trick.
At this point in time, would it be easier and/or cheaper to go with a 700c wheel set for that bike? That is, as long as the Schwinn-Approved Weinmann center pull brakes have a long enough reach and I can find a rear wheel with a standard thread free wheel hub?
