I settled on a helmet mirror a long time ago, and in that era, the mirror made by Chuck Harris was easily available and worked well. He has left us, but the design was adopted and updated by Hubbub Cycles. The mount is a bent spoke that clamps onto the helmet, so there's no practical way for it to break.

Chuck was an interesting fella and I went to his estate sale. All I bought was a Campy belt buckle, but my brother bought a recumbent tandem and a box of spokes.
