Almost every large city and urban area in North America including Canada has a strong cycling culture and advocacy groups. Majority of cyclists who are part of those cycling cultures are just regular people who ride for recreation and commuting and don't have any interest in racing or competitive cycling. How many times does it have to be repeated here that most people who ride bikes have no interest in racing or participating in competitive events, they just want to go for a normal bike rides and enjoy themselves without competing against other cyclists.
Couldn't the same be said for pretty much every sport? Running, for instance?
Shouldn't kids who enjoy riding competitively with their friends have the opportunity to participate in organized races?
