Are you certain that you aren't buggering up the seal when you replace the battery? Mine is a little finicky. That thin o-ring can be easily stretched as the cover is put back on. And it will come out of it's seat and leave a gap for water to get in.

I ride in rain and have not had any issues with my 4iiii. But putting that battery cover back on can be a pain in the butt. I so wish that it had a rechargeable internal battery.
