A good day for parts
I was in one of two LBS's in the region, looking for a Stronglight puller for my new-to-me Grand Sport. The mechanic said sure and pulled out a Park CCP-1. I tried to let him down easy, telling him it was the wrong tool, marginal size difference blah blah. He seemed slightly miffed but lightened up, telling me that a local customer had recently called the shop, wondering if they needed any of his old tools. He offered me his number then I perked up, say no more, nudge nudge.
A lovely British guy, maybe late 70's but losing his physicality. Has two nice Woodrups in the stable along with a Moto tandem and a bunch-o-parts. And my Stronglight puller! And a chain tool. And a 50-38-26 TA ring set with new triple bolts. And a VAR 3rd hand tool. Icing on the cake was an unused canvas pannier called a "Worthy'. It's a Holdsworth. A very good day. It was all I could do to refrain from buying his full set of Park frame and fork straightening and alignment tools.
