I've reported drivers on the county police non-emergency line. Twice a deputy has called back. One went and talked to the driver. The other was very interested in what I saw. Truck belonged to a woman but was driven by her boyfriend; currently under a no-contact order and banned from using the truck. Did I note whether the driver was male of female? Sadly, I was so focused on the license number I had to say no. Deputy said then she couldn't take action but this call and incident would go into his folder.
That first incident was an intentional very close pass by a farm truck that then turned into his farm. Road was a popular cycling route. I'm guessing that chat with the deputy had some effect for the benefit of future riders.
