Yes they are like hens teeth. The man who owns the shop where mine was being worked on sold his for 6 figures. Mine is a conversion to a 6 cylinder, with a 3.0 SC motor and a Brazilian upgrades which make it a far better car than the original - but not quite as valuable. I can’t take the car anywhere without being approached by someone who owned one, wanted to own one or knew someone who owned one. It’s like a very approachable magnet.
Add me to that list. When I was in HS, my dad had a green 914 1.8. Not much power, but still a ton of fun to toss around. He loved that thing, and it's the only car he ever owned that was parked in the garage. I don't recall why he sold it. I've seen a couple of 914-6s around my area over the years, but they are a rare bird, indeed.
