All I'm doing is going 1 more lap around the block every time I ride. I'm currently at 6 laps and I usually ride right after I wake up, before my brain gets the chance to think of excuses not to ride. Then it's out of the way, and I can cool down and eat breakfast with that off my to do list. I'm still recovering from an IT band injury a few weeks ago and I've only ridden twice in the last week so I'm taking it slow. Thankfully I am already noticing improvements to my leg strength in every day activities. Everything is getting easier. I also hit my weight loss goal of being under 500lbs by my birthday. Weighed in at 498 this morning
The riding is getting easier and the biggest detriment to time in the saddle is the saddle. The riding position isn't great and the seat kind of smooshes me in a bad way when I try to ride more rearward. I might need to tilt the seat down some so I don't crush sensitive body parts riding in a more rearward and bent over position. I'm at that weird point in weight loss where my body doesn't fit right anymore so I'm having to find new postures/positions in my seating, and now my bike. Interestingly, the bones I sit on are taking the longer time in the saddle very well. I'm not getting sore at all at this point, and even sitting on hard surfaces is more comfortable off the bike.
I'm also riding with a helmet, checking my bike before every ride (caught quick release coming loose last ride) and keeping it to under 12mph. I even baby it going over bumps in the road.
