I want to add a change I made to this bike 3 weeks ago.
Since I built it up around 3 years ago I've been running 650b x 42 smooth tread Gravel King tires which I do like very much.
I'm a big fan of Challenge Strada Bianca tires and have them in a 700x36 size on my Bottecchia.
For a couple years I had a Specialized Roll 650b hybrid bike that I decided to try the Challenge Strada Bianca tires in a 650b x 46 width.
They were terrific on it being so smooth, supple quick rolling and fairly light for the size.
I decided to sell the bike but switched tires and kept these 46 wide Challenge tires for a future build. They are fairly pricey tires.
Three weeks ago a friend wanted to ride his age in miles and I was trying to decide which bike to ride on this all day attempt.
The streets in the greater Dallas, TX area can be pretty rough so I wanted fattish tires to smooth the bumps since we are slow and would be on our bikes a bit over 7 hours.
The 650b x 42 tires I had on the Peugeot would probably have been fine but I started wondering if the 46 wide Challenge tires would squeeze in there on the Peugeot.
Holy smokes! They did fit!
Although you have to mount them on the bike before inflating to get past the brake calipers but no big deal to me.
There's not much clearance on the stays, maybe 2 to 2.5 mm on each side.
I rode the Peugeot with my friend and completed 76 miles, his age.
The Peugeot did great. We were stoked to actually finish our goal.
Here's some pics of the Peugeot from a short ride yesterday with the fat Challenge tires on it.
