The ferrule is not stepped, it is simply an aluminum ferrule with a kind of rounded end on it that allows it to nest on the hole. I have a set of these on a bike and got lucky at the LBS finding the ferrules for them. Another reason I support my local shop with all my cycling needs. They are always there for me.
