The vast majority of my riding is on XC-like mountain trails in Scottsdale's McDowell Sonoran Preserve. There are only a few, sparse rocky sections on the particular trails I usually ride there.
To get to the preserve, I ride about 1/8th of a mile on a rough chip seal road between my house and entering the preserve. And, on some occasions I ride a beautifully smooth suburban bike path meandering through miles of greenbelt in Scottsdale. It is only very occasionally where I may ride somewhere else, on a stretch of gravel/fire road.
I find the rigid Dual Sport an ideal bike to cover all of that riding. No need for suspension at all, in my experience. Of course, there are other more rugged, challenging, technical trails here in the Preserve which would benefit from a bike with suspension - I just don't find that I enjoy riding those kinds of trails, whether on my hard tail Roscoe or not.
I hope that's clear enough for you to understand now.
As for your post count: understandable, as I have noticed that you appear to take every opportunity that you can find to jump in and voice your opinions around here.
Ahh so chip seal roads are MTB trails now? It's ok to ride gravel it is not a bad thing it is also ok to ride on fire roads or chip seal or whatever surfaces you want. In the end though it doesn't have to be called a mountain bike trail.
Yes I am involved in the forums, that is a cogent point. That is the whole point of the online forums. Rather than just being an echo chamber it is a free exchange of ideas.
