My bike club carries insurance, which is our biggest annual expense.
This year, we decided to not have the MTB rides be club sanctioned and we withdrew from a faster ride, not because of the speeds, but the behavior. Riding in pelotons and blocking traffic on two lane back roads, etc.
As an officer in the club, I brought up the idea of disbanding as an official club and just go unofficial. The other officers thought it was crazy, but I'm not so sure.
