Unless you're in a group ride, then they can be kinda irritating.
I'm an old man, according to the op; that aside, my open road riding days are but a memory. We have a superb bike/pedestrian parkway at home base (SW Ontario); one can easily put together an 80+ km ride without hitting the streets, and that can be extended to include an additional 20 or so km circuit around a lake. Out here in New Brunswick, I can access non-technical trail rides that go upwards of 40kms, so I'm set -- and no need for bike radar.
However, this thread has me worried that I've been duped yet again by Big Bike and its supporting manufacturers, this time into spending too much on cycling apparel. Sleepless nights ahead!
