I raced in the late 60’s and early 70’s as a junior on a white Raleigh professional that cos me $260 of my Saturday lawn mowing money. Equipment was “tutu campagnolo”. I competed in the first tour of Northern California that was held in Bear Valley. Also competed in the state championships in 1969 and 1970. Made an early lone breakaway in the 1970s state championships and almost won but was caught by two riders who finished with me and just beat me to the finish line finishing third. Those were great times made a lot of friends in the cycling community and friends that I have to this day. Wonderful lessons learned about respect, hard work and rules of the road to stay healthy.
