Wilcat Canyon Road update - repair work is starting
As promised/threatened on the Contra Costa County website, work on repairing the slip-out on Wildcat Canyon Road is starting. When I went by the slip-out an the way downhill to Orinda, nobody was there. When I returned to head up and back to Berkeley, there were a couple pickup trucks and three or four men. They were in "spread the plans out on the hood of a truck and start figuring out logistics" phase and had no problem with my going through - who knows how long that will last. When I asked, the guy who seemed to be in charge said that the upper part (Inspiration Pt. to El Toyonal) would not be closed, so we can at lest ride down to El Toyonal and turn around (that makes for a 14 mile ride out-and-back from my house - your mileage will most certainly differ). So our days of having Wildcat to ourselves are just about over.
The County website says work will be done sometime in October, but we'll see. In any event, the joy (and occasional challenges) of having our very own big, wide MUP is coming to an end. It's been fun while it lasted
