The cable pull on Microshift Acolyte/Advent/Sword Black/Advent X/Sword groupsets differs from Shimano 8/9/10 speed groupsets. You can mix and match those Microshift groupsets as long as the shifter matches the cassette (8 speed shifter for an 8 speed cassette, the brand of the cassette doesn’t matter), but you need a shifter from those ranges to activate a derailleur from those ranges.
