When my elder son moved out, I repurposed his bedroom as the home office I never had and always wanted. The view out my big window is an avocado tree and my wife's extensive rose garden.

Around here, everyone prizes and pays dearly for that ocean view, but I can always walk our bike about a km to see that. The funniest example to me is a new extremely expensive house that was recently completed in my neighborhood. The east/street side is a sold wall of decorative rock facing, with only a front door cutout, while the west//ocean view side is all glass. With our hot season rapidly approaching, those folks are going to bake, with all glass facing the midday-to-setting sun, and no cross-ventilation.
