Automotive 2k (2 component) primers are great, if that is what you had in mind. I sometimes get lazy and use a spray can primer. Rustoleum paint is excellent. Keep some carburetor cleaner handy for when you finish painting to clear out the spray nozzle. If you are putting on decals, whether water slides or rub-on transfers clear coat can provide protection for them. For clear coats the automotive clears are the best. If you don't have a spray gun and a compressor then there are 2k clears in spray cans.

The cans have two chambers and before you paint, you need to depress a button on bottom to get the activator mixed with the clear paint.
